Worship Service Overview
On the second Sunday of Advent, Bostwick Lake Congregational UCC gathered to reflect on the promise of peace and God’s presence in our lives. The Advent Candle of Peace was lit, symbolizing the call to find stillness in the midst of chaos and to embrace God’s transformative work in our hearts and communities.
The scripture readings from Luke and Malachi emphasized preparation for God’s coming, the refining nature of faith, and the invitation to live with righteousness and justice. The sermon explored Malachi’s prophetic message, challenging us to see faith not as rigid rituals but as an ongoing transformation toward love, justice, and peace.
From announcements about community outreach, including the Mitten Tree and Kids’ Food Basket initiatives, to joyful moments of song and prayer, the service was a reminder that true peace is found not in perfect circumstances but in trusting God’s work within us and around us.
The congregation was invited to embrace Advent as a time of reflection and action—caring for others, seeking justice, and being bearers of Christ’s peace in a world longing for hope.
