Worship Service Overview
On January 26, 2025, the congregation gathered for a spiritually enriching service focused on fully embracing faith and recognizing the presence of Christ within ourselves and in the world around us. The sermon explored Psalm 19, which speaks of God’s revelation through creation, and Jesus’ proclamation in the synagogue, where he declared the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy.
A Children’s Moment used the Hokey Pokey to illustrate the importance of giving our whole selves to God, reinforcing the idea that faith is not something we approach hesitantly but fully commit to. The sermon invited the congregation to look beyond the surface of religious belief and explore a deeper, personal connection with God, drawing from Jacob Needleman’s What is God?
The service included prayers for healing and comfort for several members of the congregation, including Shirley H., Maddie Hesler’s grandmother, and Deanna Magon, as well as an update on Alice Hole, who was preparing to move to Bishop Hills.
Through worship, scripture, and reflection, attendees were encouraged to fully immerse themselves in faith, just as Christ fully embraced his mission to bring good news to the poor, release captives, and proclaim the Lord’s favor.
